Federated Datasets

In addition to external databases, users can also manage federated datasets.

The Federated Node is an open source federation component developed by Aridhia as part of the the PHEMS consortium. Where this has been deployed to provide federated access to data it can be easily mapped to datasets in FAIR.

Federated Node is available as an option from the data source drop down:

Rather than provide a username and password, the data owner needs to provide an auth token issued by the federated node they are connecting to.

Token transfer

When Federated Node is set as the data source for a dataset, on the dataset administration tab the data owner now has the option to set the transfer type to token transfer.
