Downloading an Audit Extract

Tenant administrators are able to download the audit logs from the workspaces in their hub. This feature allows audit logs to be stored locally or for TAs to check on workspace activity without having to log into the workspace itself.

Viewing the Audit Extracts list

The audit extracts can be seen in the Tenant Admin view by clicking on "Audit Extracts" in the menu bar.

Requesting a new download

A new download can be requested by using the fields at the top of the Audit Extracts page

The following fields can be used to make an audit download:

  • Workspace (Mandatory); this dropdown allows the user to select the workspace they wish to view the audit logs for. Alternatively, they can select All Workspaces and receive a download of the audit from all of the available workspaces in the hub. Note that all deleted workspaces in the hub are included in this dropdown.

  • Start date (Mandatory); the first day of the audit report required contents.

  • End date (Mandatory); the last day of the reports required contents.

Note that the Start and End dates must be within 30 days of each other.

Audits can be requested as far back as April 2024. Any audit extracts before this date should requested directly from Aridhia's helpdesk.

Once these fields are set, use the " Request Audit " button to submit the request for a new download. The request will then show in the table below in Pending state.

Downloading the report

Once the report is ready, it can be downloaded from the Audit Extract table using the " Download Audit Extract " button in the menu for the request.

The report will be send to the user's browser's download location in a zip file named Audit. Depending in your browser and computer settings, downloading multiple files may result in multiple zipped folders with names like Audit, Audit(1), Audit(2) etc.

Viewing the Audit Extract

Once downloaded to your local machine, the audit extract can be unzipped from its folder and opened using any software which can read csv files; Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets or Libra Calc are commonly used.

Your file should contain the following columns

EventDescription
WhenTimestamp of the audit event
WhoUser ID of the logged in user who caused the event
AsRole of the user when the event happened
WhatTitle of the event
Resource(Optional) A list of any workspace resources which the audit event refers to.
Detail(Optional) Additional information on the event
workspace_uuidThe ID of the workspace the event happened in.
workspace_nameThe name of the workspace the event happened in
LocationThe hub location of the workspace.

Managing the Audit Extract list

Once downloaded, Audit extracts will not be automatically removed or deleted from the list. They can be manually deleted using the " Delete audit request " button in the menu item for the report.
